2010 Riding Season

 

We’ve all heard that variety is the spice of life.  It felt like we were getting into a rut with our rides the last couple of seasons.  Sometimes it was hard to find people willing to lead rides.  The last Sunday of the month didn’t work well for everyone.  Vacations, family gatherings, and other scheduling conflicts made it hard for folks to commit to a given Sunday.  So, change seemed like the answer.  This is how the change will work:  If you want to lead a ride, please 1) choose the Sunday you want to have the ride, 2) get in touch with the church office at least two weeks before that Sunday (bulletins are done on Thursday so it would need to be by the Wednesday seventeen days before the day of the ride) and give DeAnn the date of the ride, who will be leading, what time we’ll leave the church parking lot, and any other details that might be important—destination, length of ride, etc.  If the timing works, we can also get it in the Focus and on this web page.

Text Box: June 28, 2009 The June 28 ride was led by John Wills. There were seven people who rode that day—Tom and Kathy Christianson and their friend, Ken; Jeff and Heidi Vansteenburg; and Pastor Barbara. It was a beautiful sunny day, not too warm, but way too windy! Despite the wind, we had a great ride. Highlights of the trip included the outstanding camaraderie; riding the river road near Osage, eating at the Pinicon restaurant in New Hampton, having frozen custard at Culver’s in Decorah, and riding home via Bluffton. Our total miles for the day were 260—a little longer than usual, but really enjoyable.

May 31, 2009

Our May ride was led by JC & Sandy Dawald.  Others on the ride were Ron & Jeanne Bruggeman, Randy & Myra Werner, and John & Pastor Barbara Wills.  We rode approximately 200 miles to West Bend, Iowa, where we ate at the West Bend Country Club before touring the Grotto.  It was very impressive and well worth the trip!  We stopped to see the world’s largest Bullhead (fish, that is) followed by our ice cream stop at the A&W in Forest City.  Although the day was windy, it was beautiful and sunny, and everyone had a good time.
